This week is Maths Week in Primary.

The focus is Data Handling.

Here are some of the things we have been looking at:

*how many people have a birthday in the different months

*how we can sort balls of different colours and sizes

We have also been 'interpreting' information.

Today, we sorted ourselves according to different criteria.

We used things like boys & girls

 eye colour (green, blue, brown)

brothers & sisters (everyone had at least 1)

hair colour (dark, light, red)

Bob the Builder, can we fix it?
Yr1H can!!

'Mrs Hall. Mrs Hall. The cupboard is broken. Can we fix it?'

And this is exactly what the children tried to do!!

This self-chosen activity kept the children engaged and interested, working together for quite some time. There was team work, problem-solving, discussion, modelling and improvisation. The children used pencils, glue pots, masking tape and a metre rule to try to fix the cupboard!
Unfortunately, their efforts were to no avail as the cupboard remains broken. Such fun trying though!!
